The same car with a bigger 64.8kWh battery, called the Kona Electric Extended Range, is $58,000, which is $2500 cheaper than the model it replaces, too. So has the 2024 Hyundai Kona Electric done enough to earn a place on your shopping list?

2022 BYD Atto 3 Extended Range 2022 BYD Atto 3. These are surprisingly roomy small SUVs, and the Extended model’s 420km range is ample for most buyers. Cheapest is an Extended Range example in bright blue, at a Queensland dealer for $30,990. That makes them seriously worth a look.

The larger five-door SUV stance liberates more headroom and gives a more commanding view of the road. The BYD Atto 3 is a compact SUV that liberates generous interior space courtesy of its flat-floor design. Updates that arrived in 2022 added some additional range and sharpened the look, adding to its appeal.

Fuel cell cars should be plug-in hybrids so that the fuel cell is used only for extended range, and the fuel cell stack and hydrogen storage can be smaller.
