Ford has reportedly implemented a round of price cuts to several trims of the 2024 F-150 Lightning. Citing a bulletin that Ford reportedly sent to its dealer network, CarsDirect reported that the F-150 Lightning’s price changes came into effect on April 5. It’s based on the F-150 Lightning XLT trim , but it adds several tech features.

Ford unveiled the all-electric 2022 F-150 Lightning Pro, a version of the electric F-150 Lightning ( earlier post ) targeted at commercial customers. The Pro joins E-Transit in the lineup of Ford work-ready electric vehicles, backed by a nationwide network offering EV-certified fleet sales, service and financing.

Some will be electric-only, others will be extended-range vehicles in which a gasoline engine will generate electricity on board after about 40 miles of driving on a fully charged battery. They will also compete against new hybrids from Ford, Toyota ( TM ) and Honda ( HMC ), which are entering the market now.

Nokia cellphone batteries for example have been halved in size, which shows just how much better the tech is getting, without even getting into supercapacitors and alternate chemistry. Competition is going to force them to produce a comfortable, usable, extended range EV for that price, and I will just have to wait.
