In his CES talk, Fields said that rapidly advancing connectivity; software and sensor technology; and big data were the enablers behind the Smart Mobility projects—eight in North America, nine in Europe and Africa, seven in Asia and one in South America. Vehicle data might enable lower insurance rates for good drivers.

It will appear in Europe next year as the Opel Ampera and in Australia as the Holden Volt in 2012. If you build a car as a "kit car" with no real factory, then yes, it will never be an economic success. You guys go ahead and buy your 40 mile per charge GM golf cart. The car is expected to cost around $40,000.
