e-POWER uses a highly efficient gasoline engine to generate electricity for the electric motor that propels the vehicle. The second-generation e-POWER system features an all-new electric motor and inverter. Electric motor torque was increased by 10% and output by 6%. The new inverter is 40% smaller and 30% lighter.

Toyota calculates that as of 31 October, TMC-produced hybrid vehicles sold since 1997 have reduced CO 2 emissions by approximately 30 million tons worldwide and approximately 9 million tons in Japan compared to the amount of emissions from gasoline-powered vehicles of similar size and driving performance.
