The electrification of commercial vehicles, including trucks, buses and fleet vehicles, is gaining significant momentum globally. According to a report by Smart Energy Decisions , there were more than one million electric vehicles (EVs) in commercial and government fleets in the United States as of 2021, up from just over 300,000 in 2019.

Peugeot are set to debut its sub-99g/km 208 supermini at March’s EV & Low CO2 Fleet Show. The 208 will launch this June with six sub-99g engines – five of which are diesel – with the cleanest option slashing CO2 emissions to 87g and an average fuel consumption of 76mpg.

Qualifying projects for the first round of funding are: Velroue Project: Developed by Michelin, Renault and IFP, this will demonstrate the feasibility of a vehicle equipped with a dual, non-hybrid combustion engine-electric motor system. Forewheel: Presented by Michelin, Heuliez and CEA, this develops weight optimised electric vehicles.

Very low CO2 emission levels combined with good fuel economy have led leading countryside conservation organisation The Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group (FWAG) to select the Vauxhall Astra ecoFLEX 1.7 CDTi 16v as its preferred fleet car. The model is now its preferred choice as it progressively replaces vehicles in its fleet.
