Vitesco Technologies, formerly (until September 2019) the Continental Powertrain Division, has won a major contract from an European vehicle manufacturer for the supply of innovative electric heating elements for diesel catalytic converters. This EMICAT brand e-catalyst technology will be used in two of the manufacturer’s 48-volt hybrid van models. Start of production for the multi-million contract is scheduled for 2022.

Just before deliveries of the Tesla Model Y began Friday (according to various accounts on Twitter, at least), Tesla showed more views of the interior, and nudged the top EPA range rating up to 316 miles. That's a one-mile increase from the 315 miles quoted by Tesla in January. At the time, the automaker said it was raising the top range rating.

Sion Power, a developer of high-energy, lithium-metal rechargeable batteries, said that its Licerion EV technology will have energy capacities of 420 Wh/kg and 700 Wh/L when scaled to commercial design. Licerion EV is specifically designed for electric vehicle applications, focusing on high energy density, increased cycle life, and fast charging capability.

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, posted the picture of a red Model Y on his Twitter along with his team, announcing the one-millionth car on March 9th, it took the company only 12 years to reach the mark since it produced its first car back in 2008. However, with the rising demand in electric cars all over the world, it is expected Tesla will reach the two million mark much sooner.

In an open-access review paper published in Nature Nanotechnology , researchers at the University of California San Diego offer a research roadmap that includes four challenges that need to be addressed in order to advance all-solid-state batteries to commercialization. The article summarizes the team’s work to tackle these challenges over the past three years, which have been reported in several peer-reviewed articles published in various journals.
