With AS&G (Auto Stop & Go, i.e., a stop-start system) and other technologies applied, the M and G trim levels achieve fuel economy of 27.2 L/100km) on the JC08 cycle, making the Mirage the most fuel efficient registered gasoline car in Japan. MMC has received more than 33,000 orders for the Mirage in Thailand as of the end of July.

The new Note features the second generation of Nissan’s e-POWER electric powertrain—a series-hybrid drive system in which the only function of the combustion engine is to act as a generator to produce power for the battery. The second-generation e-POWER system has an all-new electric motor and inverter.

Nissan is launching a version of the Micra city car equipped with a new supercharged gasoline direct injection engine. The Direct Injection Gasoline-Supercharger (DIG-S) engine produces 72 kW (97 hp) and 142 N·m (105 lb-ft), while CO 2 emissions are 95 g/km for the manual version and 115 g/km for the CVT version.

The PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle), a subset of the electric car, combines a primary electric motor with a much smaller back-up engine fueled with a hydrocarbon/biofuel mix. (In In this paper PHEV refers solely to the long-range PHEV of 60 miles (100 km) electric-only range.) It is much more than that.
