This is due in large part to the cylinder-on-demand system, which deactivates four of the eight cylinders in many driving situations. Weighing 220 kilograms (485 lb) including all key add-on parts, the V8 is comparatively light. Technologies such as plate honing are used during assembly of the V8 at the Audi plant in Györ, Hungary.
