Continental to supply turbochargers for new Ford 1.0L EcoBoost engines

Green Car Congress

Developed for the latest 1-liter downsized gasoline engines. Continental will be supplying Ford with turbochargers for the carmaker’s new three-cylinder direct injection gasoline engine platform. In order to prevent pressure from rising too steeply at high engine output, a waste-gate valve conducts the exhaust gases past the turbine.

Hyundai showcasing new downsized turbo engines and 7-speed dual-clutch transmission; i40 48V Hybrid, i30 CNG

Green Car Congress

The new engine comes with an electronically-controlled waste-gate to optimize flow and improve low-end torque and throttle response. To keep the engine unit as small as possible, the exhaust manifold is integrated within the cylinder head and can therefore be cooled efficiently using the cylinder head water cooling system.

Using the PHEV (Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle) to Transition Society Seamlessly and Profitably From Fossil Fuel to 100% Renewable Energy

Green Car Congress

The alternative-fuel car evolved to reduce exhaust emissions and other problems derived from burning fossil fuels. The potential is enormous because the current grid has sufficient energy capacity to supply every vehicle in the United States if every one of them was a PHEV. To ignore this potential is wasteful and foolish.
