The first node of the ARPANET was installed at the University of California, Los Angeles, in 1969. Vendors were able to demonstrate OSI standards for network management and electronic mail, but instead of products for sale, the 10,000 or so attendees saw mostly demonstrations of prototypes—a marginal improvement on Autofact ’85.

For the past three months I’ve been working night and day as the Chairman of the South Bay Los Angeles 350 Climate Action Group. So far GM, Toyota, Nissan, VW, Mitsubishi, have all announced plug in vehicles they will have for sale in 2010. That’s 18 months away. So don’t buy another car until you can go electric.

We have hundreds of them in different cities, in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Austin, New York, a lot of different locations.
