DIY Electric Car Wiki - A Tremendous Conversion Resource

DIY Electric Car

For those of you who don't know, we have an electric car conversion wiki which has tons of info for beginners and pros. Some of the members here will find this obvious but I've spoken with several people recently who had no idea that we have such a fantastic resource built up. It's the same one as the link on the top right of the page, but I admit, our site design is a little weak so I'm not terribly surprised that it gets overlooked. Hey, it's all about the content, right?

Hyper-9 Motor Installation, Mounts, Etc. couple to join 2 Hyper 9's. NetGain sent me 2 Hyper 9's, but nothing to couple them together. They have 1 1/8" shafts. McMaster Carr and other sites have a variety of options.

Don''t know if it is posibble but would really like to get some info on it I''m new to the ev world but my idea was to eleminate the batteries.start with a vw beetle, put a 50 hp or more electric motor kit (sold for 3k to 7.5k). Now instead of batteries arrange the front end to fit a two stroke engine (two strokes are easiest to convert to steam) running a generator head with enough current to power the 50 hp motor.

I found some info on the web and it should be fun. Hi, I found out where the battery tray bolt was, in the wheel arc? So I removed that, the serpentine belt and AC unit. Also I scrouged from work some baby 12V sealed rechargable batteries which were going to be recycled. but still have some charge. I think I will be able to use them to test the system some way. confused: I am now reading up on building my own desulfator just for fun.
