First 35 State plans to build out EV charging infrastructure approved; more than $900M in FY22 and FY23 funding

The Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) announced the approval—ahead of schedule under the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program ( earlier post )—of 35 Electric Vehicle (EV) Infrastructure Deployment Plans from States, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.

Electrify America collaborating with nine additional companies to host more than 30 ultra-fast electric vehicle charging stations

The companies, ranging from popular grocery store chains to retail shopping centers, will help expand the availability of electric vehicle DC fast charging for customers who drive or are considering purchasing an EV. The company is investing $2 billion over ten years in electric vehicle infrastructure and education.

Lightning eMotors partners with Soderholm Bus & Mobility to sell electric commercial vehicles in Hawaii

Soderholm will be installing Lightning eMotors’ fully electric powertrain systems in repowered applications in Hawaii, as well as buying new Lightning eMotors’ vans and shuttle buses. Lightning is shipping the first vehicle to Soderholm next month, and demonstration vehicles will be available in Hawaii this summer for fleets to test drive.

ECOtality installs first DC fast charger in Tennessee

ECOtality worked closely with Cracker Barrel during the site selection process, and took into account factors ranging from traffic patterns, retail destinations and input from other regional partners.

EIA: California home to almost half of US plug-in electric vehicles

These incentives are in addition to a federal (nationwide) tax credit, which ranges from $2,500 to $7,500 depending on battery capacity and gross vehicle weight. The District of Columbia has a tax credit of 50% of the incremental cost of an EV, up to $19,000. The ratepayer must also install a separate meter dedicated to the PEV.

Electrify America, Walmart complete >120 ultra-fast charging stations at Walmart Stores

Chargers at this power can charge a vehicle at speeds of up to 20 miles of range per minute. Additional Electrify America charging station are expected to be installed at Walmart stores located in urban areas such as the District of Columbia and 46 states including California, the largest electric vehicle market in the US.
