The Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) announced the approval—ahead of schedule under the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program ( earlier post )—of 35 Electric Vehicle (EV) Infrastructure Deployment Plans from States, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.

Electrify America plans to install or have under development 484 charging station sites featuring more than 2,000 ultra-fast chargers by July 2019. . Electrify America’s chargers range in power from 150 kilowatts (kW) up to 350kW, which can charge capable vehicles at speeds up to 20 miles per minute.

The National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Formula Program (NEVI) was approved in September 2022 with a $5 billion boost to help install fast chargers along interstate highways in all 50 states. Under the NEVI program, all states (as well as the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico) have access to NEVI formula funding.
