This is further supported by the London Mayor, Boris Johnson, who has announced his plan to introduce 25,000 ‘juice points’ (charging stations), for electric cars throughout the city. The Citroën C1 ev’ie is assembled in the UK from the donor car. Interest in the C1 ev’ie is expected to be high.

Transport for London (TfL) added four Mitsubishi i-MiEVs into its fleet as part of Mayor Boris Johnson’s plans to make London the electric vehicle capital of Europe. Although the Association to welcomed the move to support electric cars, they have written to the Secretary to urge that the UK government to commence the subsidy scheme immediately and to request that they include the current generation of EVs including quadricycles and other small electric vehicles in the scheme on the same terms as cars.

Following last week’s government announcement of £5,000 electric vehicle (EVs) subsidies, leading electric car retailer, evstores have confirmed a huge growth in enquiries for their electric MyCar city vehicle. In London you do not need to pay Congestion Charge and can even park for free in large parts of the city. What do you think?

What isclear is that the full £5,000 will not be available for a £8,000 G-Wiz or a£15,000 Smart EV. It ispleasingly quick but will still only manage 150 miles between charges, muchless than a tank of petrol, even if it costs only £1.50 to charge overnight. These both cost much less than lithium cells.
