On the last day I knew I would have to get a full charge to make it back to Heathrow and leave it with enough juice for the driver who would collect it. Since I was attending the Detroit Auto Show, I could replicate my UK trip for comparison.

Commonly dubbed a "fast charge," Level III is higher voltage and a considerable investment, around $60,000 (including installation) for their 480-volt, 125-amp offering. The first Level III chargers deployed by Etec will offer free juice.
