The EV curious were clearly excited to sit in the wide range of vehicles and were quick to pose a host of questions to owners and dealers. I was lucky enough to drive to the event in a dealer-loaned Ford 2021 Mustang Mach-E , which I’ll briefly review below. We also had two private Kia Soul EV s on display and a Nissan LEAF.

The special edition vehicles included trucks and SUVs sporting an array of accessories and trim kits, while cars and SUVs using electricity are continuing to grow more dominant by the day. Look for the 2022 BMW iX M60 to be at dealers by June 2022 with a starting price of $106,095, which includes the mandatory destination fee.

There’s also a fair number of used EVs under a year old or as dealer ex-demos with heavy discounts over RRP. A bit of haggling will drop that price further – dealers will probably play ball to shift ’em. Kia Niro – from $39,000 2021 Kia Niro Electric. But there are some. Now we’re talking.

Kia Niro EV review: It was only in 2021 that Kia introduced the Niro nameplate to Australia. Instead, it was more about dipping a toe in the electrified water and getting the Kia dealer network ready or the EV onslaught. Kia Niro EV GT-Line interior. General Motor eCrate conversion kits – by late 2021 GM plans to offer battery and motor kits for classic cars, allowing an easy EV conversion. Kia e-Niro – Kia is expected to confirm it will begin going electric in Australia in 2021 and it’s the e-Niro set to lead the (err) charge.
