Ford’s Model e EV certification program, which was announced last year, has attracted its own fair share of critics from the automaker’s dealers. Since the program was announced, hundreds of dealers have reportedly opted out of the Model E program despite initially opting in for the initiative.

Ford is increasing production of two popular full-size SUVs to meet increasing retail demand for both models. The company is increasing line speed at its Kentucky Truck Plant to build more Lincoln Navigator and Ford Expedition SUVs, boosting production targets approximately 25% since last fall when the SUVs hit the market.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E is one of them, as it may lose the partial credit it currently qualifies for. Ford acknowledged as much, noting that the model on sale now is unlikely to qualify. Just a couple of years ago, Ford said it planned to triple Mach-E production, and we’re now hearing that it will cut output.

As of June 15, 2022, Ford will no longer offer the opportunity to purchase its three all-electric vehicles, the F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E, and E-Transit Van, for new leases. Ford informed dealers in a letter that it was discontinuing the end-of-lease purchase option for the E-Transit van, Mustang Mach-E, and F-150 Lightning.
