In June, Volvo unveiled its smallest and cheapest SUV, the EX30 ( see our revie w ). The Swedish automaker calls the electric SUV a “cornerstone” of its EV plans. With “above-expected order rates,” Volvo will build the EX30 at its Ghent, Belgium plant (in addition to China) to meet the growing demand in Europe for low-cost EVS.

The EX30 is already rolling out in Europe, Japan, and Brazil. He boasted about the automaker’s pricing power, with the EX30 starting at $34,950 in the US and €36,590 in Europe. Europe was Volvo’s biggest market, with 8,799 EVs sold, up 31% YOY. The extended-range model will feature up to 275 miles driving range.

The updated Mercedes-Benz model now includes a larger battery, offering future customers even more range. The EQS is an all-electric sedan that debuted as a concept in 2019 before hitting markets in Europe and the US in 2021 as a 2022 model-year EV. That includes the EQS SUV, EQE sedan, and EQE SUV. GWM set a price of $43,990 before on-road costs for its new Ora five-door electric hatchback, which in its homeland of China is known as the Good Cat and in Europe is called the Funky Cat. The GWM Ora Extended Range is about $4000 more and gets a larger 63kWh battery claimed to provide 420km of WLTP range.

Ford Europe EV Plans – Ford committed that by mid-2026, 100 percent of Ford’s passenger vehicle range in Europe will be zero-emissions capable, all-electric or plug-in hybrid, and will be completely all-electric by 2030. VW’s next electric SUV, the ID.5 4 compact SUV, which went on sale in Europe and China in late 2020.
