Insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBT) are core devices that act as switches in inverters to convert DC current from batteries to AC current to drive and control electric vehicle motors. The year started with lot of optimism with the launch of the Tata Nexon EV from Tata Motors and Chetak electric scooter from Bajaj. We still don't have DC fast charging stations on our highways. Mumbai's BEST has ordered 300+ buses from Tata Motors. Tata Motors has supplied 215 electric buses in 5 cities across India.

The C40 Recharge has twin electric motors, one on the front and one on the rear axle, powered by a 78kWh battery that can be fast-charged to 80 per cent in about 40 minutes. The Ioniq 5 is also capable of DC fast charging at up to 350 kW, fast enough to go from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes. Oshkosh had teamed up with Ford Motor Co.
