88 miles straight up to Sacramento, recharging while attending the PEV Collaborative meeting at the CEC, and then straight back. Also worth noting for those contemplating a new EV, the trip literally cost me nothing. In a Prius, the trip would have cost something over $40. Drove between 55 and 65mph. This car remains awesome.)

Plug-in hybrids differ from hybrids on the road today in that they can go longer distances on battery power and can be recharged via electrical outlets. Then there are a slew of fully electric small vehicles that are pinning their hopes on eco-conscious city dwellers who may not want to spend much more than $25,000 on a new technology.

Think has also established partnerships in the U.S. Think Global was formerly known as Think City, a prior Ford Motor Company ( F ) acquisition and part of a now-defunct Think division at Ford. The Think City was short-lived in the States with production halting in 2002 after just 1005 cars had been assembled.

There are likely many benefits to home charging that ought to make this the most popular option and here well cover the three "c"s: convenience, cost, and carbon-control. If cost is an important consideration, than charging your EV at home is a no-brainer as it cuts out any profit-hungry middlemen. Battery swapping has its critics.
