This is a much bigger call than choosing VHS over Betamax, because owning a dead end technology could cost you $50,000. They are either glorified golf cart city cars like this one or they are only for the very wealthy like the Tesla. Considering the cost of batteries, these are disposable cars.

Furthermore, changing the battery pack on say a Toyota Prius often costs a fortune, at least in most European countries, so such cars better be VERY cheap, but they’re not. One thing is for sure; - electric cars bring down the air pollution, but they sure create another waste pollution problem. Shameless self plugs here.
