Thanks to US golf cart maker E-Z-GO , which partnered with National Calendar Day to help establish National Golf Cart Day in celebration of the brand’s 70th anniversary, we can now all celebrate these pint-sized car replacements with their own holiday.

So how can these motorcycle-sized electric vehicles be priced at less than half the cost of even the cheapest electric cars available in the US? That means that a recharge likely costs you roughly the amount of loose change you’ve got dangling around in the bottom of your pocket. Because they’re not really cars, essentially.

They are either glorified golf cart city cars like this one or they are only for the very wealthy like the Tesla. And, if you consider lifetime costs of owning an EV versus owning a traditional internal combustion car, even if the initial purchase price of the EV is much more than your combustion car and you have to replace a battery for $4,000 after 7-10 years, the EV still costs less to operate.
