The project will develop a new device called the Galloping Hydrokinetic Energy Extraction Device that will convert fast-moving river currents into an oscillating motion that will drive a dielectric elastomer generator (DEG). The project will assess the cost of manufacturing these systems at various scales. DOE Funding: $240,000.

And by that do you mean they were fronting the costs of the rebates and then not recouping them from the utilities? I’ve been amazed that most companies seem to front the cost, even start ups. You have the rebates lowering and the cost of the panels lowering at the same time. The environment? That’s correct.

The thing that bothers me the most about Tesla is not the range or cost of driving an EV. It’s that Elon Musk might risk $350 million US taxpayer dollars on something that will end up costing consumers more money. a gallon , that’s 5.7 cents a a mile, 1.3 cents per mile cheaper than driving an EV of similar wieght.
