It selectively filters the hydrogen while blocking other gases, allowing it to be used as a fuel and converted as needed, at the time of re-fueling. It can be used for storing large amounts of hydrogen in a liquid form that builds on existing global supply chain infrastructure.

Volkswagen has invested around €1 million in converting the Emden plant with its 8,000 employees. Emden’s maximum production capacity at the end of 2022 will be 800 units per working day, depending on the supply situation. As a result, Volkswagen is creating the conditions in 2022 for building 1.2

The 500-megawatt (MW) HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) Light transmission connection is the highest capacity link of its kind, based on voltage source converter (VSC) technology, to go into commercial operation. The new link also facilitates power trading between the two countries and connects Ireland to the European grid.
