This advanced combined heat and power (CHP) system involves direct-firing syngas from Nexterra’s biomass gasification technology into GE’s Jenbacher internal combustion engines. Partial oxidation, pyrolysis and gasification occur at 1,500 — 1,800 °F (816 — 982 °C), and the fuel is converted into syngas and non-combustible ash.

BMW Manufacturing has launched the first phase of an integrated program of work with the intent to validate the economic and technical feasibility of converting landfill gas (LFG) into hydrogen. The first phase of this multi-phase project will be funded by SCRA (South Carolina Research Authority).

Osage Bio Energy (OBE) is a Virginia-based company that will use regional grain, primarily winter barley, to produce ethanol and high value co-products for East Coast markets via a fairly conventional pathway of converting starch to sugar, followed by fermentation. Longer term, OBE expects to have as many as four plants in the Mid-Atlantic.
