The US Department of Energy (DOE), through its Advanced Vehicle Testing Activity ( AVTA ) at Idaho National Laboratory (INL), has completed 1 million miles of plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) testing. More than 215 PHEVs, representing 12 different PHEV models—mostly conversions—have made up the PHEV test fleet to date.

CII is a measure of the carbon emissions per amount of cargo carried per mile and targets reducing emissions operationally. Sales of electric two-wheelers have long been dominated by the approximately 25-30 million annual unit sales of low powered lead-acid battery electric two-wheelers in China, but this is a saturated market.

A so-called Q-diode regulates the current flow between the lithium-ion and lead-acid batteries. This results in an increase in range in the NEDC cycle from 190 km (118 miles) previously to now up to 300 km (186 miles). A key factor in its low emissions is the optimum conversion of the methane in the exhaust gas.
