Gevo and Sweetwater Energy sign MoU for lignocellulosic feedstocks to produce cellulosic alcohols and sustainable aviation fuel

As outlined in the MoU, Sweetwater plans to build, own and operate a facility adjacent to Gevo’s existing plant in Luverne, Minnesota to produce high-value, plant-based products from cellulose and lignin while supplying Gevo with up to 30,000 tons of biomass-derived cellulosic sugars annually, with opportunities for expansion.

Global Bioenergies to lead $24M REWOFUEL project to demonstrate the production of isobutene-derived gasoline and jetfuel from wood residuals

The aim is to convert currently poorly valorized softwood residues into second-generation renewable isobutene for subsequent conversion into gasoline and jetfuel. Softwood conversion to hydrolysates by Sekab, using its CelluAPP® technology (Sweden). Bio-isobutene conversion to fuel components by Neste Engineering Solutions (Finland).

EU NELLI project delivers new generation solid-oxide fuel cell; efficient and lower cost

The EU-funded three-year NELLHI project has concluded after successfully developing a new stack design of solid oxide fuel cells, from an all-European supply chain. Companies and research organisations from Estonia, Finland, Italy, Sweden, Belgium, Germany and the UK were involved. NELLHI received €1.6 million (US$1.9 million).
