After switching on the traction motors, the vehicle fuel economy increased from 50–100%. A group at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), led by Dr. Charles Perry, who holds the Russell Chair of Manufacturing Excellence, has developed and demonstrated a proof-of-concept for a wheel motor plug-in hybrid retrofit kit for almost any car.

EFICIENCY OF ENERGY CONVERSION There is a law in science (more specifically, thermodynamics) that. in layman’s term, would state that conversion of one form of energy to another — in this case the primary energy sources (natural gas, oil and coal) to electricity — is not 100% efficient.
