I am leaning towards a golf cart or forklift motor. All the Golf cart motors I have been finding on the net are either 10 or 19 spline. Should I look for a straight axle with chain conversion? I have the resources to create an adapter to convert the 13 spine either up or down to match a golf cart motor.

The Central Jersey Electric Auto Association hosted Rise of the Gen Z Electric Driver , a virtual presentation focused on three students who share the cost of an EV. The Tucson Electric Vehicle Association in Arizona showcased conversions and self-built vehicles. The drawings were then submitted to competition judges.

On a more dangerous note, I ordered my 18 USBatt 8-v golf-cart batteries from American Battery company in California. The batteries with shipping came out to about $1900, which was slightly cheaper than I expected, given the rising costs of lead and shipping these days.

And, if you consider lifetime costs of owning an EV versus owning a traditional internal combustion car, even if the initial purchase price of the EV is much more than your combustion car and you have to replace a battery for $4,000 after 7-10 years, the EV still costs less to operate.
