Somehow it builds internal representations of the data that it can take in different directions. For each snippet of sound, it would guess the word or words, and update its connections based on whether it’s right or wrong. Then in fine-tuning it might learn to transcribe a given language using only minutes of transcribed audio.

A team of students from the Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University is helping to improve the air quality for nomadic communities in Mongolia. The team worked with the nonprofit Taiwan Fund for Children and Families (TFCF). The system is being used in the mobile homes of those living in nomadic communities.
