Smith Electric Vehicles US Corporation ( SEV US ) has selected Kansas City as the site for its US assembly plant. The new assembly plant will be located at a portion of an airline overhaul base at Kansas City International (KCI) Airport and is expected to create 120 jobs by 2010. The SEV US Newton.

Clean Fuels Ohio , a state-wide non-profit organization, has launched its Ohio Electric Drive Initiative designed to bring more than $10 million in federal funds to Ohio through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
