Amazon has begun deploying its custom electric delivery vehicles from Rivian for package delivery, with the electric vehicles hitting the road in Baltimore, Chicago, Dallas, Kansas City, Nashville, Phoenix, San Diego, Seattle, and St. Louis, among other cities.

Smith Electric Vehicles US Corporation ( SEV US ) has selected Kansas City as the site for its US assembly plant. The new assembly plant will be located at a portion of an airline overhaul base at Kansas City International (KCI) Airport and is expected to create 120 jobs by 2010. The SEV US Newton.

The US Department of Energy (DOE) has selected Smith Electric Vehicles US Corporation to receive $32 million in grant funding toward the production of all-electric, zero emissions commercial trucks. Smith’s Kansas City assembly plant and corporate office currently employ approximately 50 people.
