In the future this will make it possible to deploy the winter service more effectively and optimize the use of de-icing salt. In the next steps it will be possible to include public service vehicles, such as police cars, as well as vehicle fleets. The pilot test will start in January 2020 and continue until the end of winter.

Although the battery systems is not inexpensive, Donaghy says “ For a commercial fleet operator they can see the benefit because they will be operating their vehicles for 14 years or more. After four years they’ll be cost neutral; these guys understand the cost of their fleets down to the pence per mile. ”.
