The companies have selected Marshall County, Mississippi, southeast of Memphis, for the joint venture’s factory, which will localize battery cell production for commercial electric trucks. It’s expected to create more than 2,000 US manufacturing jobs. The 21-gigawatt hour (GWh) factory is scheduled to begin producing battery cells in 2027.

Honda’s fuel cell truck is just a concept so far and quite light on details, but Honda wants to use it as part of a greater hydrogen strategy including commercial vehicles, consumer vehicles, stationary power stations and construction equipment. That said, these are still small efforts compared to the burgeoning battery-electric truck market.

LCSWMA’s CNG project includes 14 new Peterbilt transfer trucks with Cummins-Westport ISX 12L CNG engines, costing around $2.2 So far, LCSWMA has agreements with Good’s Disposal, the City of Lancaster and PA-DEP, as well in discussions with Clean Energy, UGI and several other commercial fleets to use the CNG fast-fill station.
