Deep below the Louisville, Ky., DARPA designed the competition to advance practical robotics in extreme conditions, based around three distinct underground environments: human-made tunnels, the urban underground, and natural caves. A series of three preliminary circuit events would give teams experience with each environment.

The aim of this project is to develop Smart Manufacturing Platform-ready tools for the reliable, profitable, and energy-efficient operation of a cryogenic air-separation unit, rigorously test these tools in cyber-physical environment, and deploy some of them to efficiently operate in a commercial air-separation plant.

To produce the vehicles, Ford is converting three truck and SUV plants to car plants—Michigan Assembly, Cuautitlan Assembly in Mexico, which begins building the new Fiesta subcompact early next year; and Louisville (Ky.) Assembly, which will be converted to produce small vehicles from Ford’s global Focus platform beginning in 2011.

My company, Amp Robotics , based in Louisville, Colo., Expanding its use will prevent waste and help the environment by keeping recyclables out of landfills and making them easier to reprocess and reuse. We weren’t the first company to try AI sorting, but it hadn’t previously been used commercially. AMP Robotics.
