Natural gas overtakes coal as the largest fuel for US electricity generation.

Sales of battery-powered electric vehicles are 65% lower in the AEO2013 Reference case than the year before, with annual sales in 2035 estimated to be about 119,000. Domestic oil production will rise to 7.5 Motor gasoline consumption will be less than previously estimated.

Among the transportation-related updates going into AEO2011, the EIA increased the limit for blending ethanol into gasoline for approved vehicles from 10% to 15%, as a result of the waiver granted by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in October 2010.
