Spirit of DC - PHEV3A

The Flagstaff EAA was thrilled and honored to have EV Jerry and his plug-in hybrid car "the Spirit of DC" visit on Sunday 2/22. The club joins some 45 other clubs who have already been "fingered" and are now accompanying EV Jerry and Spirit on his trek across the country. Truly a technological marvel, getting 100+ MPG.

Since many regular hybrids obtain a 50% increase in MPG, if hybrid sales continue to have their sales resurgence, they will contribute to a significant reduction in gas tax revenues. In the 20 year period of 1997-2017, the average miles per gallon (MPG) of new passenger cars increased to 39.4 MPG from 28.7. miles or 37 percent.

The Environmental Protection Agency rates fuel economy at 30 mpg highway and combined in hybrid mode, with an impressive 84 MPGe (miles per gallon equivalent) that measures the pure electric mode. mpg based on the dashboard computer.
