The air suspension raises and lowers the Jeep based on drive mode and speed, attempting to help with aerodynamics as well as making sure you have the proper ride height if you do any light off-roading. Aside from a brief trip down a run-of-the-mill dirt path, I didn’t do any “off roading” with this Jeep. I am gonna pass out now.

I do wonder if Mazda can steal sales from the Lexus RX, BMW X5, and Jeep Grand Cherokee – all three were on hand for static comparison. The PHEV has 56 MPGe – 25 combined on gas only. And so on.

Fuel economy is EPA-rated at 28 mpg city/36 highway/31 combined for the FWD Taos, with the 4Motion rated at 25/32/28. While fuel economy may be less if your driving keeps you on city streets with frequent starts and stops, it is good to know when on the open road and at a consistent speed, mid-to-high-thirties are possible.
