The main potential applications are in electricity storage, transport and the recovery of waste heat.

The California Energy Commission (CEC) approved $5,580,773 for clean-energy transportation projects including biodiesel production, power control electronics for medium-and heavy-duty battery electric vehicles, and buydowns for propane vehicles. The facility is slated to produce nearly 5 million gallons of transportation fuel per year.
