Canada’s Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Catherine McKenna, and the Chair of the California Air Resources Board, Mary Nichols, today signed a new cooperation agreement to advance cleaner vehicles and fuels. Combined, these states and California constitute more than 40% of the US passenger vehicle market.

Electrification of medium- and heavy-duty (MHD) vehicles is an important component of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and mitigating climate change. Timelines for electrification of heavy duty vehicles tend to range from 2030 outwards and cover only percentages of new trucks purchased. However, that is likely to change.
