The 2022 Ford Escape Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) is powered by a 2.5-liter liter non-turbocharged, 4-cylinder engine that produces 165 horsepower by itself, but when adding-in the motor generator that number increases to 200 hp. With a plug-in option the Escape can drive all-electric (for more than 40 miles we found).

The 2022 Lincoln Corsair PHEV Grand Touring is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, powered by a 2.5-liter liter non-turbocharged, I4 engine and two electric motors producing a total system 266 horsepower. That number jumps to 78 MPGe, or miles per gallon equivalent, when looking at the car’s electric power.

In a pre-response to that speech, having successfully advocated for plug-in hybrids like the forthcoming Chevy Volt, we propose that the President follow that speech up with a “realistic and conservative” roadmap to halve our oil use in 10 years. Oil is holding us all hostage, economically and physically. Finally, it’s time to begin.
