Qatar researchers review hydrogen production from on-board ammonia decomposition

A team from Hamad Bin Khalifa University in Qatar has comprehensively reviewed various ammonia decomposition techniques to produce clean hydrogen by recovering the boil-off ammonia while integrating solar energy infrastructures onboard a ship for electricity and heat requirements. The review paper is published in the journal Fuel.

Shell and Tsinghua University set up mobility research center

Shell officially opened its Joint Research Center for Cleaner Mobility with Tsinghua’s Department of Automotive Engineering (DAE). Shell integrated its supply chain with its gas value chain in Pearl GTL, Qatar, in order to provide Shell PurePlus Technology-enabled engine oils around the world.

Shell selects site for proposed $12.5B GTL project in Louisiana

If built, the proposed project would use natural gas to create cleaner-burning transportation fuels, such as natural gas-based diesel and jet fuels and other products, such as specialty waxes and the building blocks for lubricants, plastics and detergents. Shell built the first commercial GTL facility in Malaysia in 1993.

GE and Clean Energy Fuels Partner to expand LNG refueling infrastructure in US for trucks; new MicroLNG plants

GE and Clean Energy Fuels are collaborating to expand the infrastructure for natural gas transportation in the United States. As part of the collaboration, Clean Energy Fuels will initially purchase two MicroLNG plants from GE Oil & Gas. GE’s MicroLNG plant can liquefy natural gas at any point along a gas distribution network.

Sasol embarking on feasibility study on a US gas-to-liquids facility in Louisiana

South African energy and chemicals group Sasol today announced that it has chosen the southwestern region of the State of Louisiana as the site for a planned gas-to-liquids (GTL) facility. GTL transportation fuel is cleaner burning than conventional diesel with a roughly comparable, and potentially lower, greenhouse gas profile, Sasol says.
