BMW Group and Vattenfall Europe have begun a second phase of the Mini E test fleet in Berlin, with the transfer of 70 MINI E electric vehicles to private customers (30 units) and fleet users (40 units). The MINI E were charged mainly at night, using certified green electricity from Vattenfall.

BMW Group and its Chinese joint venture partner Brilliance China Automotive Holdings Ltd. The plug-in was developed exclusively for the Chinese automobile market and produced at the Shenyang site. The worldwide MINI E fleet trial was extended to China at the beginning of the year, involving the sites of Beijing and Shenzhen.

Everyone’s all excited that Ford just turned a profit, but they’re doing it with a fleet of uninspired crappy cars that they practically have to give away. Several Chinese car companies are working on cheap, entry level full electric vehicles and will have them ready years before the major car companies. Really Ford?

BMW’s Mini is rolling out its electric car in three phases. In 2008 the company released a test fleet of 450 Mini-E vehicles and is getting ready to announce its second phase. Still, Chinese auto-makers hesitate to mass-market their electric models domestically. Chinese green-car subsidies on hold.
