Some previous Prius plug-in conversion kits allowed motorists to go as fast as 52 miles per hour using a “forced stealth” mode.

Both Toyota and Ford are now producing a few prototype conversions of their own Priuses and Escapes for research purposes.) Electric car supporters are rising to defend General Motors’ development of the Chevy Volt after the Obama Administration’s automotive task force proclaimed that the car was probably too expensive to be commercially successful in the near future. . Supporters of the car say that’s shortsighted. and Chrysler. The hell with the GMs.

Furthermore, changing the battery pack on say a Toyota Prius often costs a fortune, at least in most European countries, so such cars better be VERY cheap, but they’re not. Current batteries in new Toyota hybridsare ~$3000 if they need to be replaced. None of the new electric cars are planning to use old-tech lead acid batteries.
