Between my electric bikes, e-motorcycles, e-ATVs, electric tractors, and a few other things I’m probably forgetting, having a weather-sealed, solar-powered off-grid charging shed would be a big benefit. There are many ways to skin a cat, and even more ways to add solar power to a shipping container. Here’s how I did it.

Keep an Emergency Kit in your Electric Vehicle. Arming yourself with an emergency car kit can help give you peace of mind if you happen to get stranded in the elements. It should include items such as granola bars, a reflective blanket, rope or cordage and a first aid kit.

GM says it is working to reduce the amount of time the switchover from grid to car power takes, but that it will inevitably be slower than home battery solutions (which can respond in only a couple seconds, or even less than a second) because those stay continually energized, whereas the car requires more communication and a wake-up process.

Furthermore, changing the battery pack on say a Toyota Prius often costs a fortune, at least in most European countries, so such cars better be VERY cheap, but they’re not. Wind, hydro, DC transmission lines, and smart grid electronics are also Portland strengths. If you charge with solar, is way less. — Larry 4.
