Rolls-Royce has been awarded a contract to supply and install a large-scale mtu EnergyPack QG battery storage system on a turnkey basis to the Dutch energy company Semper Power in Vlissingen. Semper Power develops and operates energy storage systems for wind and solar farm developers, distribution grid operators and industrial customers.

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) has launched a Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) pilot, with the first charge point already being utilized with Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV’s in-vehicle storage batteries. The system allows electric vehicles to be charged quickly and flexibly, and dealers can also use the stored electricity for the lighting and air-conditioning in their showrooms and workshops. So far, 160 pre-orders have been received from dealers in the Czech Republic, Germany, the Netherlands and Slovakia.

The Netherlands-based Fastned, the company building a European network of fast charging stations, saw its first two stations break-even in March. Fastned began installing stations in The Netherlands in 2015; 57 are currently in operation. Fastned expects that more stations will pass the break-even point in the coming months.

Renault and energy supplier Eneco will collaborate on a smart charging solution for electric vehicles. Under the terms of an agreement signed today at the COP21 Paris conference, Eneco subsidiary Jedlix will develop a version of its existing smart charging app, adapting it to Renault’s ZOE EV. In Europe, this figure rises to 72%.

ABB and Volvo Buses are partnering to co-develop and to commercialize electric and hybrid buses with open standards-based direct current (DC) fast charging systems.
