Furthermore, some EV charging points will lose their warranty, if not installed by a certified electrician. Is it possible to install it yourself?

Plug-In Conversions Corp www.pluginconversions.com of Poway, near San Diego, CA converts the Toyota Prius using NiMH batteries and the EAA-PHEV open source control system, and will provide kits to qualified DIY installers. The company partners with approved installers charging $1,200-$3,000. 25 or more gets you a bumper sticker.

Low Ranked Ethan @ Apr 19th 2009 5:27PM Kilgore - Plugs are 24 volts in the UK, 12 in the US, your car will charge much faster with this, seeing as it is hundreds of volts more. The benefit of a higher voltage connector has nothing to do with the speed at which the battery will charge it has to do with the conductor size.

Each has signed a letter of intent (LOI) with Chrysler to equip post offices in strategically selected regions of the United States with a charging infrastructure for the envisioned program. The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) also has signed an LOI to provide USPS integration tools.
