Greenhouse gas emissions increased in the EU in 2010 as a result of both economic recovery in many countries after the 2009 recession and a colder winter, according to the latest greenhouse gas inventory published by the European Environment Agency (EEA). The European Community’s air pollutant emission inventory report released by the European Environment Agency finds that in 2007, sulphur oxides (SO x ) emissions were down by 72 % from 1990 levels. EU-27 emissions of all four pollutants were lower in 2007 than in 2006.

The latest edition of “ Monitoring CO 2 emissions from new passenger cars in the EU ” includes provisional data on vehicles sold in 2012.
