Neste joins eFuel Alliance

Green Car Congress

The eFuel Alliance is based in Berlin and Brussels and brings together companies and organizations that share the goal of establishing and promoting power- and bio-based synthetic fuels to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from transport. Low-carbon fuels are the only sustainable solution to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions from existing combustion engines around the world.

Emissions of Air Pollutants down in EU-27

Green Car Congress

The European Community’s air pollutant emission inventory report released by the European Environment Agency finds that in 2007, sulphur oxides (SO x ) emissions were down by 72 % from 1990 levels. The downward emission trend of three main pollutants which cause ground-level ozone continued in 2007: carbon monoxide (CO) fell by 57%, non-methane volatile organic compounds (NMVOCs) were down by 47% and nitrogen oxides (NO x ) have dropped 36%.

EEA: Higher EU greenhouse gas emissions in 2010 due to economic recovery and cold winter

Green Car Congress

Greenhouse gas emissions increased in the EU in 2010 as a result of both economic recovery in many countries after the 2009 recession and a colder winter, according to the latest greenhouse gas inventory published by the European Environment Agency (EEA). Nonetheless, emissions growth was somewhat contained by continued strong growth in renewable energy sources. The long-term reduction trend continued, as EU-27 greenhouse gas emissions still remained 15.4%

New cars in Europe in 2013 collectively met 2015 CO2 target two years ahead of the deadline

Green Car Congress

The average CO 2 emissions level of a new car sold in 2013 was 127 g CO 2 /km; the target for 2015 was 130 g/km. The average per-km CO 2 emissions for gasoline-fueled cars was 128.62 EEA noted that manufacturers will have to keep reducing emissions levels to meet the target of 95g CO 2 /km by 2021. The main drivers of efficiency have been technological improvements and higher sales of diesel cars, which typically have lower CO 2 emissions levels than gasoline equivalents.

Solaris to present new generation hydrogen bus

Green Car Congress

Hydrogen buses have the potential to be very popular on the market: they are cheap in use, lighter than electric buses, can cover a distance of 350 km on a single hydrogen refueling (that is also the average daily range of a city bus) and they are completely emission-free—the only substance emitted while the bus is driving is steam. This year, 10 such vehicles will drive across the capital of Latvia in total.
