Nissan Motor Co., plans to donate 47 Nissan LEAF all-electric zero-emission EVs and “LEAF-to-Home” power supply systems ( earlier post ) to roadside rest area stations in all of Japan’s 47 prefectures. The lithium-ion batteries of Nissan LEAF can store 24 kWh of electricity. Nissan LEAF to go on sale in South Africa.

The Renault-Nissan Alliance and Daimler AG are expanding their five-year strategic cooperation ( earlier post ) into the pickup truck segment. Together, Nissan and Daimler will develop a 1-ton pickup truck for Mercedes-Benz. The primary target markets for the truck are Europe, Australia, South Africa and Latin America.

The key markets will be Argentina, Brazil, South Africa, Australia with New Zealand, and Europe. The pickup will be manufactured in a production cooperation with the Renault-Nissan Alliance. Production for the European, Australian and South African markets will start at the Nissan plant in Barcelona, Spain, in 2017.
